five year plan

After so many months of having almost zero time to be crafty and creative I have been a machine! It's funny as soon as it was all finished and done I was so looking forward to getting back into my routine of making posts and taking sooo many photos, but then once I could breath again I realized the last thing I wanted to do was give myself assignments. So, for now instagram is my friend:)

How have you been? Other than painting, doing calligraphy, and playing with flowers I have been enjoying the warming weather and trying hard to remember that sometimes I have to do laundry and sweep the floors. Dustin and I have also been talking alot about where we want to "settle down", we love Colorado but I don't think we want to grow old here. We eventually want to buy a little farm house on a couple acres of land somewhere where we don't need two incomes and we can have a garden and a green house. Nashville has been pulling at my heart strings for a couple of months now and the other night two of our dear friends who are from there really talked it up and D and I plan to take a visit to see if we should put it in our sights. No real move would happen any time soon, we are more thinking of where we wanna have a couple rug rats running around. Have you even been to Nashville?

a cold spring

It is always a strange when Spring comes to Boulder. We get some beautiful warm days that are followed by at least 3 blizzards. Luckily all the snow melts away with in a day or two. This year it is even more strange for us because we just got back from a paradise island where we were swimming in the ocean and worried about get sun burned. 

So in the spirit of Spring I went and found one of my favorite flowers and thought that maybe if I dressed the dining room table with a mason jar full of these beauties that it might keep in the warm weather mode. I am so looking forward to taking hikes and taking advantage of our new lovely deck!

It is always easy for me to stay in doors because that is where my most of my hobbies live, but this year I am trying to force myself to bring those passions outdoors. I grew up in a city until I was a teenager and then was thrown into nature. I think a part of me is still learning how to not be terrified of it. I respect it and I love it but I have never really felt comfortable in it. I want to work on this because when we have children I hope to pass along a real appreciation and curiosity for it. Luckily I have my environmentalist husband to help with that!

in the white white snow

It is a winter wonderland in Boulder and has been for a few days. Everything is quiet and white and shimmering and I love it...until it takes me 40 mins to dig my car out before work.

I am getting ready for our trip to Hawaii, looking up places to go and thinking of what to bring. Some of you have asked what Island I am going to, that would be Oahu. The list of goodies I wish I could bring with me is getting quite long already. Most of it photo related. I am a bit torn on whether or not I should bring my film camera, hmmm.

One thing I can say about photography and getting more and more into it is, my bag is getting heavier and heavier. When I see something beautiful I don't only want to pull out my DSLR, I want to pull out my instax, my holga, my diana, my canon ae-1, and my canon t2. I've got to get a grip! I can only imagine what I am going to feel like in one of the most beautiful places in the world!

One purchase I did make, which was a pretty big and exciting one is, I upgraded to the Canon 60d. It should arrive on Friday and I could not be more excited! I have been booking a lot of photo shoots lately and I thought having a more "professional" camera would help me feel more confident. When I say professional I mean mostly that it is faster, there are more options on hand, and most importantly to me it is quieter! When you have a camera attached to your face for hours the shutter starts to sound like a jack hammer.

I was pretty torn between the 60d and the 7d, but since I have the t3i I am sort of attached to the swivel screen. My next upgrade will be a full frame, but that is pretty far in the future and I thought the 60d is probably the best I could do in my price range before I am ready for that jump.

its all blurry

Hello sweet people. If you follow me on instagram you may have already heard that I failed my real estate test...by two points:( Uhg, I can't even think about it, it makes me so angry! But, I am going to retake it in about a week, so I just have to study more. BOO.

On a happy note I have about 5 photo shoots lined up in the next month and they are all really exciting! A few will even feature some our favorite bloggers:) Also Dustin and I are getting ready for a trip to Hawaii with his parents. We leave March 9th! Have you ever been to Hawaii? It will be a first for us. Can't wait to photograph the ocean and all those pretty places.

mix it

I have been loving pattern mixing lately, I think it makes outfits so interesting. Florals and stripes might be favorite, it is so easy to catch a color scheme with the two. Have you tried this at all?

I am still real estate study hell, been going for a month now and unfortunately I have a couple more weeks. I scheduled my test for 12th and I can't believe I am telling you all that! But, I sort of want to contradict that feeling that I might be embarassed if I fail. The reality is, I could fail, in fact I really could fail! There is so much information and it is pretty common that people fail the test the first time around. So, if I fail I will humbly come to you all to tell me that I am still awesome, sound good? Cool:) But in all seriousness I really hope I pass because I have so many awesome photo shoots planned for the weeks after, two of which are maternity shoots, I CAN'T WAIT!

professional

This weekend I had the chance to photograph a birthday party at the beautiful and old Boulderado. This was what I wore to the event. It is always strange for me to dress for photo shoots. I want to be professional but also myself and I don't want to stand out too much. This outfit actually got a lot of attention that night, all positive, but I never know if I should be trying to blend in more. I think it is important to make people feel like their every move is not being documented, even though it is, I think I need to get better at this.

How was everyone's weekend? Mine was too quick, but very nice. I love my weekends.

Hi sweet people! How is everyones week going? This week has been the start of a sort of regiment for myself and so far, so good. I have been going to gym everyday after work and "running" a mile. I am trying to get back into a gym routine and I thought I would start slow. Working out and doing yoga used to be a huge feature of my life it was I used to keep myself happy and focused and I have been missing that feeling a lot lately.

After I work out my goal is to work on my real estate work for at least two hours every night. I have a few open book final exams that I have to finish before I can take the state exam and all I can say is that it is A LOT!! There are about 700 test questions and at about 10 minutes a question all I want to do is quit! I have been trying not to give into being a HUGE baby about the whole thing, but for real I rather do anything else. Send me some maturity would ya?

my style in 2012

Wow, being a blogger is awesome and weird in so many ways. One of which being that I have a weekly (at least) account of what I wore, what my hair looked like, how much I weighed, etc. It was so fun to look back at all of these photos! I did this same kind of post for 2011 and I hope to continue to compile all my outfits each year. Even in just one year I can look at some of these and think, yikes! Ha.

the last time I saw you

Phew! It has been a really busy couple of weeks over here! We have been getting rid of a lot, rearranging, cleaning, getting ready for the holidays, and finishing up construction. Things are starting to take shape on the home front and I could not be more excited!

Some of you know that D and I are trying to get pregnant so we have been making some room in the home to have a space for a nursery. Also, we have been rearranging so that my manzanita studio is bigger and more organized. You know how I know my husband loves me? He lets me take over half of our living space for my own work space, man I love him!

How is your holiday planning/shopping coming along? I still have so much to do. We still haven't even gotten a tree yet! But we are planning on doing that this week.

best friends 4-eva

Hi people! How is your week going? I finally got off my ass and went to a yoga class last night. Still feeling really nice about that:)

Dustin and I have been doing construction on our home since September and I can see the end in sight! I am so excited to create a new little studio space for myself and get going on the projects and ideas I have planned. I really miss having the shop open and working on orders, getting appreciation photos from customers, and designing new products.
