vintage rings

You know how I know that I married the right guy? Because he indulges me in my obsession with vintage ring sets when we haven't even been married for a year. Yes, I am the most spoiled lady on the planet!

I have gone through many phases through my life when it comes to silver and gold. When I was a kid I only wore gold and then when I became a teenager I began to hate it and only wore silver tone metal. This lasted until right around the time we got engaged. The whole time we were ring shopping we only had our eyes on white gold and we ended up finding a lovely white gold vintage ring.

Right before the wedding I started to become pretty obsessed with yellow gold again and so I began acquiring yellow gold jewelery, like necklaces and earrings. I don't know if this is me being crazy but I kinda go nuts when my metals don't match. Do you do this?

So, when I saw this lovely two tone set on etsy my heart jumped. It was so delicate, unique, vintage, and completely affordable: all the things I look for in rings. As much as I love rings I could never really imagine spending a ton of money on them. I showed Dustin the rings and this lovely crazy man gifted them to me for my birthday this year. I love them! The two tone is perfect because I can wear any of my jewelery now and the rings tie it all together. Thanks my sweet man!

my wedding dress

Last weeks word on re:frame was dress and I was inspired to do a little photoshoot of my wedding dress. Dustin and I planned our wedding in about two weeks on a very tight budget. I found this beauty at forever 21 if you can believe it! It was exactly what I wanted and it fit my budget perfectly:)

Sometimes I still can't believe we are married, and its already coming up on a year! It's kind of amazing that for years I remember walking by him on the streets of Boulder before we had ever met, not knowing that the cute guy I saw everywhere would one day be my husband.

At the risk of sounding like a total sap I have to say that I feel pretty damn lucky to have found someone so selfless, so full of love and patience, and so accepting to share my life with. Of course we have our struggles, but I rather have the struggles that exist between the two of us than any other. I look forward to building houses together, and growing gardens in the yard and I can't wait to have babies with this man, and to figure that part of our life out together, because that is going to be totally insane! Love you D!

our NY wedding party

Our trip to New York was so fun and busy! As you have probably noticed I am still catching up on everything:) We flew out there primarily because my lovely mother in law and her fiance Jon threw us a wedding party. Since we had a very small wedding in November it was so nice to be able to celebrate with some friends and family. It was mostly D's family and I got my sister Pamela and best friend Amelia to make the trip out too.

There were cupcakes and delicious italian food, music, and one lovely touch was a photo of us framed in a way that everyone could write little notes to us around it. Thank you so much Jon and Tina for throwing us such a celebratory party! And, thank you to everyone who took my camera from me all day and got such great images, especially you Zac!

Don't worry CO people! We are still planning on having a celebration here with all of you:)

Well I am almost back in the swing of things! After returning from our trip we had a couple days before family and friends arrived for my older brother's graduation this past weekend. I also got my tattoo! More on that later, but for now you can take a peek at it here. I should be back on a regular posting schedule and tomorrow I will be hosting an awesome giveaway from one of my sponsors, Blowfish shoes! So be sure to check back.

our wedding book

I ordered this book from snapfish for my mother in law and her fiance for throwing us such  a nice wedding party this weekend. I was really impressed with how it came out! The cover is a bit darker than I would have liked by the quality of the photos was really amazing. I like snapfish because you can customize every page and it doesn't automatically crop the photos like most other photo book websites do. I highly recommend them! 

I am headed up to a cabin in the woods that belongs to Dustin's family for the day and night and then we are headed down to the city tomorrow. Looking forward to crocheting and relaxing!

DIY// tulle bird cage veil

A few people have asked me where I bought my veil for my wedding. So I thought I would show you all how I made it! After looking at countless DIY's all over the net and playing around with measurements I found the perfect size for what I wanted.

I love the traditional netting bird cage veil but I wanted something a bit softer for my own. I like how tulle has this very silky softness to it and I wanted to be able to see through it completely.

Of course you can play around with the measurements here to find whats right for you! You can also just use regular scissors if you don't have a rotary cutter and board. I went out and got them for this project specially because I wanted the cleanest line I could get and a rotary cutter does just that. The board also has the degreed angles printed right on it so it makes projects like this very easy!

A manzanita wedding line is in the works, expect bird cage veils with hand crocheted embellishments in the shop soon!

Don't miss part one and two of our wedding! Our ceremony was perfect. The lovely and sweet owners of Ya Ya Apple Orchard greeted us with a horse drawn carriage that took us to the spot where we had the ceremony. It was short, sweet, and sincere and the poogs were running at our feet the entire time. We had a small "reception" picnic with apple cider and fresh apple cider donuts made right there on the farm. Afterward we walked around the farm and said hello to all the adorable animals. We could not have asked for a better November day.

11-11-11//the morning of

I am so so excited to finally share our wedding day with you all! Prepare for many many photos! We woke up early and made a big breakfast for Amber and Jon, our photographers who flew all the way from DC on barely no notice at all, who we had never met. We sat and enjoyed coffee, eggs, and toast for a couple of hours while we got to know two of our new favorite people. Then we sort of lackadaisically got dressed and ready to head to the apple orchard. All the people, fussing, and stressing that might be associated with the morning of someones wedding was completely non existent. My mother came over to help me get dressed while Dustin and his dad waited in the living room. The last image was the moment that Dustin saw me in my wedding dress. It might be my favorite image ever, I can't believe Amber caught the moment so beautifully!
